UGKL Rookie Cup 2026 – Pilot Ticket

YOUR TURN.

The UGKL Rookie Cup is back.

This one is for the pilots still chasing that first big result.

No stacked Pro podium. No sharks coming down to collect easy trophies.

Just racers, friends, folding tables, batteries, tents, questionable weather decisions, and a full day of proper UGKL-style backyard FPV racing at our usual home:

UGKL Training Ground, Putra Heights.

If you’ve been improving, grinding simulator hours, building confidence at our local races, or simply waiting for the right race to finally send it…

This is your race.

🏁 WHO CAN RACE?

The Rookie Cup is designed to give developing racers a proper chance to compete for the podium.

You are eligible unless:

• You have podiumed in the Pro category at a UGKL race this year
• You podiumed at the UGKL Rookie Cup last year

If neither of those applies to you:

YOU’RE IN.

Everyone else is welcome.

You don’t need to be brand new.

You don’t need to be slow.

You just need to still be chasing that Rookie Cup podium.

Practice / Track Testing

Qualifying

Race Brackets

Finals

Prize Giving Ceremony

The exact race format may be adjusted depending on pilot numbers, weather, race-day conditions and operational requirements.

Our objective is simple:

Give everyone plenty of flying and finish the day with some proper racing.

This year’s Rookie Cup champion is taking home an awesome brand-new backpack.

Something useful.

Something you can actually bring racing.

And something that lets everyone know:

You won the UGKL Rookie Cup.

There may also be additional prizes available on race day.

But there’s only one Rookie Cup champion.

What UGKL Provides

UGKL will provide the:

Track • Timing System • Race Management • Competition

Everything else?

That’s on you.

This is still UGKL-style racing.

🏕️ WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

Come prepared for a full outdoor race day.

Pilots should bring their own:

• Race drones
• Goggles
• Radio transmitter
• Batteries
• Charger
• Tools and spares
• Power bank / portable power
• Chair
• Table
• Tent / shelter
• Extension cables or whatever you normally need at the field
• Food, drinks and anything else you need to survive race day

There is no fancy paddock waiting for you.

Set up your little pit area.

Charge your packs.

Help the pilot next to you.

Race drones.

Technical Rules

Video Systems: Analog & HDZero only
Maximum VTX Power: 25mW unless instructed otherwise by Race Control
Maximum Battery: 6S

All pilots must follow frequency management, safety briefings and Race Director instructions throughout the event.

Pilots are responsible for ensuring their equipment is safe, compliant and race-ready.

Rookie Cup Eligibility

Eligibility will be checked against previous UGKL race results.

To keep the Rookie Cup fair:

Pro podium finishers from this year are not eligible.

Last year’s Rookie Cup podium finishers are not eligible.

Everyone else is welcome to race.

The Race Director’s decision on Rookie Cup eligibility is final.

THIS ONE IS FOR THE ROOKIES.

Maybe you’ve never made a final.

Maybe you’ve made the final but never stood on the podium.

Maybe you’ve been getting faster every race and you know you’re almost there.

Good.

Come prove it.

Bring your chair.

Bring your table.

Bring your tent.

Bring your power bank.

Bring every working quad you own.

And come race.

Your first podium has to happen somewhere.
